3 Essential Maintenance Tips on Urethane Spouting

In order to keep your grain facility operating at peak efficiency it is important to combat the abrasive nature of grain and one way to accomplish this is with a proper maintenance program. Some simple tips to maximize the life span of your urethane lined spouting include:

1. Annual spouting checks. The Tuff-Tube® is a seamless spouting system that prevents objects from getting in-between the liner and spout and causing buckling, plugging and peeling issues. Sioux Rubber suggests annual rotation of your Tuff-Tube® spout liner in order to maximize the life of the system. Worn liners can be removed and replaced using the same spouting.
2. Annual checks on elbows. It is important to check wear patterns on elbows annually because this is one of the higher wear areas in a spouting system.
3. Inspection. We recommend weekly visual inspections on all of your spouting. Any signs of deformation or leaking should be more thoroughly investigated to prevent unscheduled outages. Worn or damaged bolt in liners can quickly be replaced with a drop-in Tuff Tube® liner.

Replacing spouting and the associated downtime can be very expensive. Regular inspections and maintenance can help prevent premature liner wear and spouting failure. For more information on Tuff-Tube® urethane spout liner or to ask maintenance questions call 1-800-443-9469.
